Go to Listings > Categories<\/strong>. Within this section, you can create categories and sub-categories. For instance, let\u2019s add the following categories: \u201cCity Tours\u201d, \u201cHistorical Tours\u201d, \u201cCulinary Tours\u201d, \u201cNature Tours\u201d, \u201cAdventure Tours\u201d, and \u201cCultural Tours\u201d.Add Category<\/strong> button.<\/p>\n\n\n\nRemember that you can add as many categories and subcategories as you need for your WordPress tour booking website.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Adding Custom Listing Fields<\/h3>\n\n\n\n Once you add listing categories, you have to create some custom listing fields. Since HivePress has no hard-coded fields, you can create different fields & search filters according to your website needs. For example, let\u2019s add the \u201cPrice\u201d field to show the price of each tour.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Navigate to the Listings > Attributes<\/strong> section and click Add New<\/strong>. Set a name, enable front-end editing so that users can specify prices when creating listings, and make this field required. Also, for the \u201cPrice\u201d field, it\u2019s better to use the \u201cNumber\u201d field type.<\/p>\n\n\n\nIn the Search<\/strong> section, you can allow users to search and filter listings by the custom field value (i.e., filter by price)<\/em>. To do that, simply mark it as filterable and sortable. Also, it\u2019s better to set the “Number Range” field type here.<\/p>\n\n\n\nFinally, in the Display<\/strong> section, you can specify where this field should appear. For example, you can select Block (primary)<\/strong> and Page (primary)<\/strong> as the placement areas. Then, you have to choose a display format for your field. Setting Everything Up<\/h3>\n\n\n\n Now, you need to adjust the settings in the HivePress > Settings<\/strong> section to ensure your tour booking website is set up and functions properly. It\u2019s better to go through all the settings sections, but there are a few that we\u2019d like to emphasize.<\/p>\n\n\n\nIn the Listings<\/strong> tab, you can allow or restrict user listing submissions by ticking the Submission<\/strong> box (it depends whether you want to create a single-vendor website or a marketplace where others can add tours).<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\nIn the Bookings<\/strong> tab, you can allow multiple bookings by ticking the checkbox in the Guests<\/strong> section, enabling reservations until the places are filled. In that case, you\u2019ll be able to set how many persons can participate in one tour.<\/p>\n\n\n\nAlso, there\u2019s an option to allow time-based bookings instead of the daily & nightly ones. It\u2019s a useful feature if you want to offer tours that last not the whole day.<\/p>\n\n\n\nWith everything set up, you can move on to the homepage creation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Creating Pages and Customizing<\/h3>\n\n\n\n An attractive homepage is vital for your successful online presence. To create a new page, go to Dashboard > Pages<\/strong> and click Add New<\/strong>. Write a page title like \u201cHome\u201d and start adding blocks.Listing Categories<\/strong> block. To find other HivePress blocks, type \u201cHivePress\u201d in the search bar and add the necessary ones. Once done, click Publish<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\nTo set this newly created page as the homepage, go to Dashboard > Settings > Reading<\/strong>, and choose it from the drop-down menu, then save the changes.<\/p>\n\n\n\nThat\u2019s it!
