Step 5 – Adding Listings<\/h3>\n\n\n\n Now it\u2019s time to add the first listing to your vacation rental platform. It\u2019s possible to add new listings via the front end and back end of your website, and we\u2019ll show you how to do it in both ways.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Adding Listings via the Front End<\/h4>\n\n\n\n It\u2019s as simple as pie to list a new property via the front end. Simply navigate to your website and click on the List a Property<\/strong> button. You\u2019ll be taken to the listing submission page, where you should select a listing category, add a title, upload images and describe your property.<\/p>\n\n\n\nAlso, on this page, you have to fill in all the fields that you have added in Step 3 and set the location (this field is available if you installed the free HivePress Geolocation add-on)<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\nFinally, you can set different booking restrictions, like booking offset, booking window, minimum & maximum stay duration, etc.<\/p>\n\n\n\nOnce you fill in all the necessary fields, click on the Submit Listing <\/strong>button. Then a website admin (i.e., you)<\/em> should approve the new listing in the WP Dashboard > Listings <\/strong>section.<\/p>\n\n\n\nWhen the listing is approved, it should appear on the website. Also, if you don\u2019t want to approve each listing manually, you can disable this feature in the WP Dashboard > HivePress > Settings > Listings > Moderation <\/strong>section.<\/p>\n\n\n\nAdding Listings via the Back End<\/h4>\n\n\n\n Now let\u2019s add one more listing, but from the WordPress Dashboard, so you have a better idea of how it works. Simply navigate to the WP Dashboard > Listings <\/strong>section and click Add New<\/strong>. Here you\u2019ll see the same fields as on the front end listing submission page, so you can fill in them in the same way.<\/p>\n\n\n\nWhen finished, click on the Publish <\/strong>button.<\/p>\n\n\n\nStep 6 – Setting Everything Up<\/h3>\n\n\n\n The next step is to play around with the settings to ensure that your vacation rental website works in the way you want. We recommend going to the WP Dashboard > HivePress > Settings <\/strong>section and checking all the sub-sections.<\/p>\n\n\n\nPay close attention to the following sub-sections:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\nListings<\/strong>. Here you\u2019ll find all the settings related to listings and listing submission. For example, you can disable the \u201cSubmission\u201d feature if you are building a single vendor website and don\u2019t want to list the properties of other users on your platform;<\/li>\n\n\n\nBookings<\/strong>. Within this tab, you can set up the booking functionality on your site and enable some great features like Time Slots<\/strong>, which allows you to accept time-based bookings;<\/li>\n\n\n\nGeolocation<\/strong>. This tab appears if you install the HivePress Geolocation extension. Here, you can set your map provider, select the countries to restrict the location of the search results, enable the Regions <\/strong>feature and so on.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\nOnce you set everything up, you can move to the next step.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Step 7 – Creating a Front Page<\/h3>\n\n\n\n Now it\u2019s necessary to create a front page and add other useful pages to your vacation rental website. Since RentalHive is integrated with Gutenberg, you can customize your website layout hassle-free using blocks. Simply go to the WP Dashboard > Pages <\/strong>section and click the Add New<\/strong> button.<\/p>\n\n\n\nFirst of all, you have to add a title (let it be \u201cHome\u201d)<\/em> and a heading (e.g., \u201cRent vacation properties around the world\u201d). <\/em>Then, you can start adding blocks by clicking on the \u2795 icon. We recommend typing \u201cHivePress\u201d<\/em> in the block search field to have all the HivePress blocks at your fingertips.<\/p>\n\n\n\nFor example, you can add the listing search form, the categories block and then the listings block to display some listings on the front page.<\/p>\n\n\n\nOnce you are done, click on the Publish <\/strong>button. Now, you have to go to the WP Dashboard > Settings > Reading <\/strong>section, set your new page as a homepage and Save Changes<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\nThat\u2019s how it works! Now your website has a new front page, and similarly, you can add other pages like \u201cProperties\u201d<\/em>, where all the listings will be displayed, a \u201cBlog\u201d<\/em> page if you want to blog on your vacation rental website and so on.<\/p>\n\n\n\nStep 8 – Customizing Pages<\/h3>\n\n\n\n Okay, at this point, you should already have a fully functioning vacation rental website, and the final touch is to customize its look and feel. RentalHive is integrated with WordPress Customizer, so you can easily change fonts, primary and secondary colors, set a custom header image, etc.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
